Did you know that 40,000 girls every day are forced into child marriages? Or that in the United States alone, 1 in 3 women will be beaten by an intimate partner?! Given these shocking statistics, I am passionate about introducing today’s guest, Anna Blue, who is working to empower girls around the world with the tools needed to help support women both domestically and abroad.
Anna Blue serves as the Deputy Director of Girl Up, a campaign of the United Nations Foundation that mobilizes, trains and empowers influential teen girl leaders through community organizing, advocacy and global networking. Listen in as Anna shares how Girl Up is working to battle cultural stigmas of girls and women around the world, as well as provide them with education and simple tools (i.e. a bike), that have such an incredible impact on their life.
As you listen in to her interview, you’ll hear how Anna’s family was instrumental in shaping her drive “to change, to save, to do” and how her life as a young adult only further affirmed her mission of helping others. You’ll also her how Anna’s experiences in politics and campaigning led her to the passionate work she does today, and how she is sharing its importance with the next generation.
